We Can Fit Your Dentures in Everett To Ensure a Perfect Fit
In our dental office, we provide
dentures Everett patients use to replace some or all of your teeth as you lose them due to accidents, age, or disease. There are, therefore, two distinct types of
dentures in Everett available for you to choose from. The first, partial dentures, are used in conjunction with your existing teeth to replace any that you may have lost. In order to have partial dentures, you must have some natural teeth that can help support the denture itself. The second, complete dentures, are a complete replacement of all the teeth in your mouth. While neither one is superior to the other, often a full denture is easier to manage and maintain.
Partial dentures and complete dentures, for that matter, require a level of care in their maintenance. Making sure that you properly remove them, clean them, and store them when they are not in your mouth are critical elements to their longevity. For your mouth, you must also ensure that the dentures fit perfectly. An ill-fitting denture can cause all kinds of pain and irritation, among other things, which is why it is critical that you let us know of any discomfort prior to leaving the office. We will work to ensure that the denture fits perfectly and also to give you information about how to care for them.
Stomatitis is a general term, used in dentistry, which refers to an irritation or soreness in the mouth often accompanied by swelling or inflammation. This condition can occur virtually anywhere in or around the mouth, most often occurring on the gums, tongue, lips, or palate. Very often, in the case of dentures, stomatitis occurs because the dentures do not fit properly and need to be refitted or replaced. At other times, when people are not careful when removing or replacing the dentures this can lead to a misalignment and potential soreness and inflammation. Common examples of stomatitis are canker sores and cold sores, which are not caused by dentures. It is important to contact us immediately if you are experiencing stomatitis due to a denture that does not fit properly.
Angular Cheilitis is more popularly known by its number one symptom, a cracked corner of the mouth. Often mistaken for dry lips or a cold sore, Angular Cheilitis occurs only in the corners of the mouth. It will typically start with some tightness, difficulty opening your mouth wide, and flaky skin around the site. Eventually, if left untreated, Angular Cheilitis will progress to where you will have an open sore or wound at the corners of your mouth, have difficulty with eating and talking, and an inability for the splits to heal.
For people who have dentures, this can occur due to the over excess of saliva produced when sleeping with the dentures in place, also known as nighttime drool. Removing the dentures at night may relieve some of the Cheilitis. It is important to schedule an appointment if the Angular Cheilitis is not healing as it may be a symptom of a more serious infection.
When providing
dentures in Everett, we ensure that that fit is perfect and recommend that you schedule follow-up appointments to ensure they stay that way. This will prevent the above-mentioned complications.
